Two MBTA trains collide outside Boston University’s Agganis Arena.

Twenty-five people are injured and significant damage is caused to the two Green Line trains in the accident near 925 Commonwealth Avenue. Asked to explain the incident, MBTA general manager Steve Poftak says, “I think the only conclusion we can draw is that, obviously, at some point, they became too close together . . . That obviously should not happen.”
